Waste management
We work to limit the amount of waste generated by our activities.
Together we take responsibility for the environment through smart waste management.
More information on waste management can be found in our waste management plans, price list and operating regulations, which you can find on the page Documents.
Correctly sorting waste into different fractions is crucial to reduce our impact on the environment. Under Swedish law, it is not allowed to mix different types of hazardous waste.
The need to deliver waste must be notified at least 24 hours before arrival. If the voyage is shorter than 24 hours, the notification must be made before departure from the port of loading.
New legislation, following an EU directive from 2021, requires ships to pre-notify waste under MARPOL I-VI. The port will then verify the information and issue a receipt to the captain. To ensure that the notification is correct, which is also the basis for the receipt, an established form should be used.
