When winter is here.

Icebreaking

Our icebreakers Athos and Anund provide access to Lake Mälaren during the winter.

The service is provided by and ordered from Rederi Mälarstaden.

Our icebreakers Athos and Anund ensure that Lake Mälaren is passable during the winter. We also offer transport of crew and pilots to and from anchorages in the Västerås port area. To keep you updated on winter navigation, including the ice situation and any traffic restrictions, we regularly publish information on the Maritime Administration website.
