The future of logistics starts in Lake Mälaren.

Mälarhamnar

Mälarhamnar is the largest inland harbour in the Nordic region, with quays in Köping and Västerås. We exist to combine the opportunities of shipping with the needs of business. This means that Mälarhamnar enables efficient transport that strengthens the competitiveness of companies, while contributing to a more sustainable transport system for the whole of Sweden.

Our strengths lie in the combination of long experience, a flexible and solution-oriented approach, and the will to develop.

Business concept

Mälarhamnar conducts harbour operations in Lake Mälaren, with quays in Västerås and Köping. The mission is to offer port services to ensure the local and regional business community cost-effective and environmentally friendly transport, as well as associated terminal operations and cargo handling, including freight forwarding.

Services should be value-creating for all stakeholders in the broad sense, i.e. owners, employees, employees' families, customers, suppliers, neighbours and businesses affected by the activity, pollution and society at large.

Our vision

The future of logistics starts in Lake Mälaren.

We are driving the transition to sustainable transport through safe, robust and flexible solutions where the sea will play a key role in future logistics flows.

Our strength lies in the people behind it - with commitment, knowledge and community, we create a safe workplace where individuals grow and develop in line with our customers' needs.

Our owners

We are owned by the City of Västerås and the Municipality of Köping, a so-called wholly owned municipal company, where the City of Västerås owns 55 % and the Municipality of Köping owns 45 %.
